Missing Layers When Opening a Design from Cropink to Figma

Updated this week

If you open a design from Cropink in Figma using the Cropink plugin and notice that some layers are missing or not visible, this usually does not mean the design is broken.

This issue can occur when loading an existing Cropink design back into Figma for editing.

Common reasons why layers may be missing

1. The design is still loading in Figma

When a design is loaded from Cropink into Figma, some layers may appear with a delay.

  • Give Figma a moment to fully render the file

  • Zoom in/out or wait a few seconds

  • In larger designs, layers may load progressively

2. Limited access to the original custom design

If the design is custom and was originally created by another team member or agency:

  • Make sure you have access to the original Figma file

  • Some elements may not load correctly without full project access

💡 Tip: If possible, always edit the original Figma source file, not a regenerated version.

3. Unsupported or flattened layers

Some layers may not appear as editable if they were:

  • flattened

  • rasterized

  • grouped in a non-standard way

  • created using effects or masks that are not fully editable

These elements may still exist visually but won’t appear as manageable layers.

4. Plugin sync or connection delay

Temporary sync issues between Cropink and Figma can cause incomplete loading.

Try the following:

  • Refresh the Figma page

  • Reopen the plugin

  • Reload the design from Cropink again

How to fix it

  1. Wait a moment and allow Figma to fully load all layers

  2. Verify you have access to the original custom design

  3. Refresh Figma or reload the plugin

  4. If possible, edit the original Figma file used to create the design

✅ In most cases, missing layers will appear once the design finishes loading or when the original design file is used.
